Gosh GL, we were amazed to see so much activity the whole night long. They were definitely not dawdling when on the move. Liked the "hand" at 22:16 ;). The little one appeared in good shape in your photo from 19th, so if they keep eating at this rate, they should be ready quite soon, hopefully even before you leave. Toni Bunnell wrote an interesting paper re size/shape & weights for hedgies & their survival. It is at http://www.tonibunnell.co.uk/casualties.html. If there will be someone there after you have departed, is it possible they (or a neighbour) could still keep putting some food out for them for a little while, so that the supply would not stop abruptly?
I phoned Tiggywinkles this morning. They said that at the moment they'd want hedgehogs to be at least 450g - 500g, and so with these little ones at 400g we think they are well on the way. I'm going to keep an eye on them over the next few nights and will try to weigh them again early next week.
All going to plan they will be fed until hibernation - fingers crossed.
This blog was originally set up to make a record of hedgehog activity in my garden in South Oxfordshire, plus any other wild animals that crossed my path. However, I've since moved to Pembrokeshire in Wales. Luckily I have found hedgehogs here too, and I'm always on the look-out for other wildlife.
